BLACK LATINA
GIRLS AND
WOMEN FUND

Portuguese | English | Spanish

THE FUND

The Black Latina Girls and Women Fund was created by Black Latina women in the service of Black Latinx women in the Americas. This fund offers financial support by giving money directly to Black Latin womxn and girls who are experiencing severe financial need across the region, especially due to the COVID19 pandemic.

We acknowledge that Black womxn’s economic struggles are not necessarily new. Black girls and women from Latin America are leading movements and creating systemic change, but they need emergency financial support both locally and internationally. Many transnational Black families that have women head of households are economically hurting because an important source of their income has been impacted by COVID-19.

Either in Brazil, Colombia, United States, or Panama, Black Latina girls and women are organizing in their local communities in the fight against several forms of state violence, including income inequalityunequal access to health care systemspolice brutality, and more. We call on you to give radically and help us on the fight against these systems by funding Black Latinxs with small grants that will allow them to address the priorities and perspectives of their local communities in Latin America and the Caribbean.

This fund was created by AfroResistance, a 10-year-old organization led by Black women from Latin America and the Caribbean. The Black Latina Girls and Women Fund is part of our mission of educating and organizing for human rights, democracy, and racial justice throughout the Americas.
