Puerto Rico Emergency
What happened in Puerto Rico?
Hurricane Fiona intensified to a Category 3 storm on Tuesday as it neared the Turks and Caicos Islands, days after it knocked out Puerto Rico’s power grid and lashed parts of the Dominican Republic with heavy rain, the National Hurricane Center said.
What are we doing?
AfroResistance and Mothers on the Move, in partnership with Las Parceleras AfroCaribeñas, are supporting their Community Kitchen efforts in La Conde, Puerto Rico, due to Hurricane Fiona.
This Black Women-led organization prioritizes Black and LGBTQ+ peoples in rural communities to ensure they get hot cooked foods during these challenging times.
