Marielle Franco left behind a lasting legacy of human rights advocacy and courage in the face of political violence. Marielle was an inspirational leader, emboldening Black, Indigenous, LGBTQIAP+ and disabled women across Brazil and beyond to challenge the oppressive grips of racism and patriarchy. In Marielle's wake, global solidarity has sparked--bringing people together to demand answers to her unjust murder and to protect those who carry on Marielle's mission. Marielle is larger than life; she has become immortal in the fight for justice that we must continue on in order for her legacy to live forever.
